Enchanting wallpaper and fabric reminiscent of another place, another time.

The Faraway Collection is an innocent place of storybook happiness, singing birds and carefree nostalgia. Drawing on flora and fauna motifs from places both real and imaginary, trees, plants, scampering animals, and chirping birds have all been hand-painted in a simple and playful fashion.

INDIAN MINIATURE PAINTINGS

Inspiration for our naïve landscape pattern WOODLAND has come from Indian miniature paintings, in particular Pahari devotional paintings that were created in the Himalayan foothills over a period of 300 years. The charming trees and plants of the original Indian artworks were immaculately painted and display the most beautiful imperfections of hand.

Simple and elegant, MUGHAL LEAF is our take on the classic ‘Marigold’ pattern, an Anglo-Indian design usually of flowers laid in a diamond repeat. The pattern was often used for the splendid coats or ‘jama’ of the Sikh Gurus. The rounded pinnate leaves are similar to the Indigofera plant used for making indigo dye.

WHIMSICAL CHARM

Animated patterns SPRIG and SONGBIRDS take us back to a time of cheeriness, or perhaps an imagined time of contentment and optimism, a sprinkle of which we would all love to include in our homes today.

SPRIG is a dainty leaf pattern in a floating layout. Informal and feminine, sprig patterns were hugely popular as 17th & 18th Century dress fabrics. SONGBIRDS, or perching birds, joyfully trill in a tree of feathery fan-shaped leaves.

TREE DWELLERS flies high with parrots, swallows, finches, squirrels, flying foxes, tree frogs and mice. Resting, scrambling, nesting, pondering, all of these critters make the tree-tops their home or playground. Don’t you love the tree kangaroo?

Two wise owls are taking forty winks in NIGHT OWLS. Sitting in a huge lolly-pop tree, the owls are surrounded by a quiet starry night. An adorable wallpaper perfect for a pretty bedroom or nursery - ‘Goodnight Owls!’.

COLOUR PALETTE

The Faraway Collection colour palette is one of simplicity and harmony.

Built on the Quercus & Co aesthetic of natural paper and linen, the warm naturals of Cassia Bark, Palace Pink, Caperberry, Forest Blue, Sandalwood and Riversand have a folk-like craftsmanship charm.

The brighter distinctive colours of Celandine, Cinnabar Green, Indigo, Bluebird and Plumberry nod toward ‘old-school-days’ nostalgia. Pared-back light greys, pinks and soft greens are included with Diaphanous, Chai, Parasol, Mountainside, Willow and Chiffchaff Green.
