ART, NATURE, SIMPLICITY

Light, papery off-whites and neutrals feature with sienna browns, bronze greens, misty blues and rusty ochres in a new revision of our original Coastland Collection, first released in 2012.

Native trees, shrubs and birds sketched in pen and ink, or charcoal: Coastland – Sketches from Botany Bay is a collection of four patterns in twelve colourways as both fabric and wallpaper.

Two of the original patterns - Heath Banksia and Canopy - have continued to be favourites in various colour iterations since their first release, and now feature longside a re-release of Coastal Banksia and a new ink sketch similar to a French ‘Toile-de-Jouy’ design called Dunes.

Expressive and animated, all four patterns have a lightness of hand; an artistic simplicity illustrated in the freely drawn lines and scratchy marks of the ink and charcoal.

The drawings by Adam Jones, our founder and designer, have an unrefined raw quality and are printed beautifully on both our upholstery-weight Belgian linen and luxurious matt wallpaper.

The collection easily fits into the ‘Japandi’ aesthetic- a style-fusion influenced by the simplicity of Scandi interiors and the hand-crafted imperfection of Japanese design - and yet retains a distinct Australian vernacular.

The painterly designs layer beautifully with natural linens and plain weaves. The wallpapers are a light, artistic addition to interiors whose focus is on raw materials and warm textures.

Daybreak, Evening Grey and First Light are colours that evoke the tranquillity of a quiet walk through the bush to the beach, whilst Sepia, Sienna and Bronze are timeless names drawn from traditional art practice.

DUNES

Sandy pathways wind their way through a coastal landscape with basking lizards and snakes soaking up the heat of a summer day in new design Dunes.

CANOPY

Canopy features trees and twigs, clouds, and native birds perched or fluttering across the sky in an ambient repeat pattern.

COASTAL BANKSIA

Coastal Banksia is a lightly sketched illustration of the seed pods and leaves of Australian native tree Banksia integrifolia.

HEATH BANKSIA

Dainty Australian Wrens perch among the branches of the native tree Banksia ericifolia in our classic original Heath Banksia.
