WATERCOLOUR REFRESH

We've revamped our timeless, perennially-popular patterns from the Watercolour Collection with a dazzling, brand-new palette, offering options for both eclectic, globally-inspired interiors or tranquil, light-filled, organic spaces.

The Watercolour Collection is a series of painterly, colourful wallpapers and fabrics inspired by vintage textiles, weavings and embroideries from around the world.

The original patterns have been hand-painted in a broad and light manner, with many of the marks washing into and blotting the paper. It’s these imperfections that give the designs their natural and spontaneous character. Cross-cultural inspiration includes threadbare rugs from the Middle East, dyed and bleached fabric from Japan, and decorative European needlepoint.

MINIMALIST

Linea, Morph and Facet are renewed with pared back, harmonious tones that echo their simple, organic and artisanal beauty. Rescaled and refined with graceful, contemporary proportions.

MAXIMALIST

Bold and bohemian, Tapestry, Kilim and Bargello come alive with rich and vibrant hues that accentuate their Middle Eastern-influenced, opulent character.

TAPESTRY

TAPESTRY is based on an old, worn-out diamond Kilim. The blotted and washed-in watercolour effects are intended to represent the faded and frayed sections of the woven rug. We loved the look so much these ‘imperfect’ painterly marks have since become a signature style in many of our designs.

KILIM

KILIM is a large-scale geometric pattern based on the traditional Middle Eastern rug. Kilims are handmade flat-woven rugs traditionally produced in countries of the former Persian Empire and often feature motifs significant to the life of the village in which they’re made.

BARGELLO

BARGELLO is a decorative design with washes of watercolour layered in graded translucent shades. It’s inspired by the embroidered cloth of the same name, from the Bargello Palace in Florence. Also called ‘Flame Stitch’. Rescaled here into a smaller repeat, emphasising its bold, horizontal ribbon effect.

LINEA

LINEA is a soft and shadowy geometric design with a ‘papery’ quality. The bleached lines are similar in style to Itajime Shibori, the Japanese resist-dying technique used to create patterned fabric.

MORPH

MORPH is a soft, washy design painted using wet ink on wet paper, allowing the colour to bleed into the background. The honeycomb pattern is inspired by traditional Japanese Shibori designs.

FACET

FACET features a painterly pattern reminiscent of shimmering cut glass. Inspired by a 1930s English printed cloth, this design showcases simple hand-painted shapes layered in dark and light shades, adding depth and sparkle.
